GREAT NEWS!

Koko Jazz Records are releasing a CD on February 1st with the Greg Abate Quintet, titled "Horace Is Here". The personnel is Greg on alto and tenor, Claudio Roditi trumpet, Hilton Ruiz piano, Marshall Wood bass and Artie Vabral drums. Recorded in Westwood, MA September, 2004, at Peter Kontrimas' Studio. Producer was Steve Silverman. 8 Original Silver tunes and 2 originals by Abate. This is some of the best playing by Abate to date. The entire session is flawless. Cost for the CD is $15.00.

THE HOWARD ALDEN/DAN BARRETT Quintet - Live IN '95 - ARCD19280. Howard Alden guitar, Dan Barret trombone, Chuck Wilson, alto & clarinet, Frank Tate bass and Jackie Williams drums. From January 12, 1995 at a live concert for the Gold Coast Jazz Society in Ft. Lauderdale, Arbors, after keeping this one "on ice" has finally released this CD.

BOB DOROUGH - Sunday At Iridium - ARCD19305. Bob Dorough has been holding forth at Iridium on Sunday monings for Brunch. Accompanying Bob is Steve Berger on guitar, Steve Gilmore bass ed Ornowski drums and the Bobettes. This recording is further livened by two special guests, Joe Wilder and Daryl Sherman.

TOMMY NEWSOM - and his Octo-Pussycats -ARCD19312. Tommy on tenor, Warren Vache cornet, Wayne Andre trombone, Karolina Strassmayer alto & flute, Lisa Parrott baritone, Derek Smith piano, Noriko Ueda bass and Sherrie Maricle drums. An absolute delightful CD.

From Downtown Records we have the following rare items from the famous Rems-Murr-Jazztage concerts in Germany. These were recorded in Schorndorf bei Stuttgart and produced by Peter Buehr, Jazz musician, promoter and historian.

The first track on Volume one features the Flat Foot Stompers with Ernst Eckstein cornet, Roland Muller trombone, Peter Buehr soprano, Jurgen Kulus banjo, Uli Reichle sousaphone and Uli Fussenhauser on drums. All other tracks on both volumes has Randy Sandke, Jon-Erik Kellso, Ralph Hesse trumpets; Dan Barrett, John Allred trombones; Chuck Wilson, Reiner Heute, Harry Allen,Christian Plattner reeds; Mike Goetz piano; Howard Alden guitar; Alec Dankworth bass; Gregor Beck drums and Terry Richards vocal. Added and feaured on Volume 2 is Peanuts Hucko.

This is a high talented and spirited group of musicians from Tokyo, Japan, led by Kiyotaka Soga leader, trumpet, fluegelhorn & vocal; Tyrone Anzai clarinet, tenor, vocals; Shintaro Suzuki trombone & percussion; Michiko Ogawa piano & vocals; Norifumi Gomi banjo & guitar; Jun-ichiro Negishi bass and Kenny Susaki drums. Recorded in 2004 in Tokyo. This is one of the best trad bands in Japan.
