An outstanding CD with 17 tracks with great musicians giving their all. It don’t get much better than this! BCBC, 106.
| A new release from Bravo: | ||
This CD started out as a quartet with all tunes composed by Matt Bokulic. Then Kenny Fitzgerald died just as the CD was finished and several musicians were invited to “sit in” on several tracks, thus becoming a tribute to Kenny. The last track on the CD is with Kenny and Matt in a very moving tune. A fitting tribute to a great bass player. This one of our personal favorite CDs. Bravo, 010
| A release from Francesca Records. It's actually on the Honest label but we grouped it in with Francesca: | ||
Gerry Beaudoin has done it again. This time with a great bunch of guests, David Grisman, Bucky Pizzarelli and Billy Novick. A swinging CD. Francesca, 5002.
| Finally, we have a new label we are proud off. The label is owned by none other than Dan Levinson, the great reed player from New York. The label is Loup-Garous: | ||
This is a wonderful tribute to the ODJB (Original Dixieland Jass Band). When ODJB first recorded for the Victor Talking Machine Company (90 years ago last month!), nobody realized what was to come in the jazz world. We didn’t really know what was to come from Levinson’s aggregation and were we ever surprised! A marvelous CD with 21 tracks of great music! Loup-Garous, LG1001.
Rosy McHargue was not only a great musician but also a great arranger. Here Dan’s 11 Sons of Rosy’s, 2 Nephews and 1 special track with Rosy. None of these arrangements have ever been commercially recorded before. In addition, there is a 38 page booklet with liner notes by the late Floyd Levin and Dan Levinson. This is a very special treat. Loup-Garous, LG1002.
